In this issue:
We are officially one week away from the Thanksgiving holiday, and with it so near we are often struck with a complex mix of emotions. Joy and peace, stress and rush, reminisce and loneliness. We celebrate with our loved ones, and miss those no longer with us. We are frantic to get ready for visiting family, or ponder what we will do with the quiet the holiday may hold. Whatever your situation, I hope and pray that you can draw close to the Savior and give thanks for his grace, his faithfulness, and his peace, even in times of loss and trouble. At the bottom of our newsletter today is a liturgy and prayer I hope can be a blessing and help to you.*

*A Liturgy of Thanksgiving In All Seasons
God, I approach your throne with joy.
I have seen your generosity firsthand; in my family, in my friends, in my everyday life. I have seen your good gifts and known the blessing of plenty, and celebrated in your wondrous kindness. Yet regardless of my circumstances, I give thanks for your mercy and grace, and count all else as loss; I was dead in my sin, and you gave me new life through the blood of Christ.
God, I approach your throne with need.
I have seen trouble and pain, and I know the toll that sin has taken on every part of your earthly creation. I have lost loved ones, and experienced failure and fear; I have faced the wicked darts of an enemy bent on burying me in despair and doubts at your goodness. Regardless of my circumstances, I give thanks that you are faithful, never forsaking me: You are well acquainted with grief, and are an ever-present help in times of trouble.
God, I approach your throne with thankfulness.
I know the joy of your salvation, and I have tasted the freedom from sin that you purchased with the blood of your Son. I have experienced the peace that passes understanding, and during this sojourn in a foreign land I've seen glimpses of the place to which I belong through the light of your lovingkindness. Regardless of my circumstances, I give you thanks for those eternal things that no earthly pleasure or trouble can shake.
May no season of plenty determine my joy, nor season of want determine my trust. You are constant in and out of season, and have good plans for me. You make straight my paths and account for every tear I shed.
Lord, I approach your throne with thanksgiving because I know that every good thing comes from you alone.
Thank you.
In Jesus' name, Amen
