This weekend is Father's Day weekend! As a father myself, it's great to have a day to be recognized. That said, it also serves as an important reminder of the responsibility that comes with that title. Few people have as much influence on our lives as our fathers, for good or ill.

It's no secret that I've long been a fan of Andrew Peterson (hence why we sing "Is He Worthy" pretty regularly). Whenever I reflect on my place as a father, I'm reminded of the closing lines to his song "God of My Fathers". While day to day challenges will come, and I know I'll have moments of failure as a father, I pray that God helps me to keep this my aim as I raise my kids, and my prayer for them as they grow and seek the Lord themselves.

From "God of My Fathers" by Andrew Peterson:

Now we're counting stars and counting sand
Little feet and little hands
We're counting joys
We pray you'll know them
As you knew us when you wove us
As you hold us
Hold them, please hold them

Like their father, they are looking for a home
Looking for a home beyond the sea
So be their God and guide them
Till they lie beneath these hills
And let the great God of their father
Be the great God of their children
Let the great God of my fathers
Be the great God of my children still

Father's Day || 6/21
Bring your family and join us on Father's Day for worship. There will be a small gift for all the fathers on the way out.

Children and Youth Summer Programming
Our summer schedule for Children's Ministry is in full swing. Kids Church is offered for K-4th grade children during the 10:30 am service. The 5th/6th Preteen Class and the 7th-12th Youth Class meet during the 10:30 am service. Childcare is available for Infant-Pre-K during the 9:00 am and 10:30 am services.

Women's Ministry's "Summer Spark" || 7/11 || 7:00 PM || Liz Logan's Home
Ladies, join us for this fun, joy-filled gathering where women can spark new friendships, ignite their faith, and gather to connect, grow and support each other. Information cards are available in the Lobby! Please bring a camping chair and a snack to share!

Men's Ministry's "Thriller from the Griller" || 7/17 || 6:00 - 9:00 PM || The Gym
What's the "Thriller from the Griller" you ask?? It's an event for men at The Springs to enjoy an epic movie together while eating some incredible BBQ. This year we will be watching Angel Studio's "Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Spy, Assassin" and having our annual Grilling Competition! The movie details the life of WWII era German Pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a man who showed incredible faith and commitment to Christ in the face of great evil. We hope you will plan to join us on Friday, July 17th from 6:00 - 9:00 PM in the gym! Be sure to look for the sign up in the lobby to let us know you're coming and if you'd also like to contribute to the grilling and compete for the chance to be crowned champion of the grillers!
If you have questions or are unable to sign up in the lobby, please contact either Josh Zinner (816-550-1615) or Trent Moberly (309-830-8094).
